Museum & exhibitions Friday 4 April 2025 - Sunday 27 April 2025 Kiln Lees in het Nederlands Kiln is a form and material research in which Nandi Enthoven dives deep into the world of glass and ceramics. These two materials fascinate her because of their colors, deformability and unpredictability. Nandi feels the materials contain something powerful because of the moleculartransformation that only takes place with the use of high temperatures, such as firing in a kiln. ‘Clay is soft and malleable, I can shape it with my bare hands. I think glass is indomitable, strict and stubborn, but magical. Would this couple fit together?’ The oven will try to fuse these two materials together, but because the expansion rate of thematerials differs, the experiments could easily crack. After each firing, Nandi studies the results and applies the new knowledge and ideas to the next firing. In addition to the choice of temperature of the oven, and many other elements, the shape of the object is also of importance. Nandi used a pottery wheel to make the ceramic samples and in this process she plays with form, color and variations. Welcome to Kiln. The order of making the sculptures can be read from small to large. Nandi’s method is rooted in a tactile and experimental approach to materials. By participating in a process that listens to the material, she allows the work to unfold organically, embracing spontaneity and the element of surprise. This philosophy emphasizes the importance of touch and texture, while exploring how surfaces interact and shape one another. Nandi sees herself as a mediator between the material and the final form of the sculpture. Her work reflects a world of possibility, optimism and discovery, based on her love for animals, nature and craftsmanship. In addition to the infinite possibilities when working with ceramics and glass, she is interested in different crafts and techniques, in which the knowledge she gains with each craft enriches her method as an artist. ‘I create an overlap between craft techniques, break rules and experiment. This gives me a great freedom in the process of creating and it feeds my curiosity.’ nandienthoven.com Advertisement Museum & exhibitions Guided tour Dom Tower Dom Tower Date continuous Time mo to su: 10:00 - 17:00 Performing arts Soula’s Storytelling Nights Theater Kikker Date Tue 15 Apr Time 20:30 Literature Ramshackle: Open stage variety show De Nijverheid Date Fri 4 Apr Time 21:00 - 23:30 Advertisement Museum & exhibitions The Cyclus Show EXboot Date Thu 27 Feb to Sun 30 Mar Performing arts Simone de Jong Company: Jaszak (2+) Theater Kikker Date Sat 1 Mar - Sun 2 Mar Time various times Show full calendar Calendar More inspiration in Utrecht Cabaret & stand-up Festivals Utrecht International Comedy Festival Various locations Utrecht Date Wed 26 Feb to Sat 8 Mar
