Podium Hoge Woerd

Podium Hoge Woerd makes up part of Castellum Hoge Woerd, a modern interpretation of an ancient Roman fort.

During the construction of the Leidsche Rijn neighbourhood, a large part of the original Roman border was uncovered accidentally. The archaeological finds that were excavated here included a Roman ship and countless everyday objects. The decision was made to give all these artefacts a place of their own. What was once the location of a Roman fort is now the site of the modern cultural centre Castellum Hoge Woerd.

On the first floor of the Castellum Hoge Woerd pavilion, you will find what might well be the most beautiful theatre in Utrecht.
