This season, Masters of Anatolia brings an evening of virtuosity and emotion to the Netherlands: Hüsnü Şenlendirici, one of the greatest clarinet masters of Turkey and Europe! Born into a Mediterranean family and brought up with the rich traditions of the gypsy-traditional style, Şenlendirici combines his classical musical education with an academic background to create a unique and eclectic sound world. Hüsnü Şenlendirici began his musical journey at the age of five in his grandfather’s legendary orchestra, Lacho, which played gypsy-traditional music both in Turkey and Europe. His unique sound and improvisational style have made him a fixture on the Turkish music scene. He has collaborated with iconic artists such as Sezen Aksu, Kibariye, İlhan Erşahin, BaBa ZuLa, and Mercan Dede. He also formed his own band, Lacho Tayfa, with which he made the groundbreaking album In the Buzz-Bag in collaboration with Grammy-winning New York funk formation Brooklyn Funk Essentials.
