Californian hardcore punk band Scowl is named after the English word for ‘looking angry’ and the music they make fits exactly that: hard, toxic and explosive. On debut album How Flowers Grow (2021), the band rushes through 10 songs in 15 minutes and still manages to make a lasting impression. Meanwhile, Scowl has signed to Dead Oceans, where their second album Are We All Angels will be released on 4 April. The two already released singles Special and Not Hell, Not Heaven reveal a slightly more melodic sound, although frontwoman Kat Moss still screams all the wallpaper off the walls live! Support this evening will be provided by post-hardcore, noiserock formation Modern Color, also from California.
