US band Beirut combines indie folk and balkan influences to create a compelling-melancholic sound. Beirut is the project of Zach Condon, who draws his inspiration from all over the world – you can hear balkan horns, but also mariachi trumpets and accordion. Yet it is mostly Condon’s own rich, somewhat mysterious voice that propels songs like Nantes, Postcards From Italy and Elephant Gun to tens of millions of Spotify streams. In 2023, Beirut’s sixth album Hadsel was released, named after the Norwegian village where Condon recorded the record. Live on stage, Beirut is a well-oiled, multi-headed band!
