As a young child, Judy Blank spent every evening watching classic American films with her father. Those stories gave her all the inspiration she needed to pursue a career in the U.S. Over the past few years, she has been mainly active across the Atlantic, but now, for the first time in a long while, she’s back in the Netherlands. Following the huge success of her coming-of-age album Morning Sun (2018)—a blend of bold indie folk, rootsy pop, and a touch of Delta blues—she performed at major festivals like Lowlands and North Sea Jazz.

But now, she’s taking a new direction. For nearly a year, she has been working with producer Roy van Rosendaal (Figgie) in a dark studio on the edge of a forest. There, she has crafted a fresh, distinctive sound filled with playful lyrics, colorful synths, and jangly guitars. Expect catchy melodies and a stylishly dressed band with a soft spot for gritty ’60s rock.
