Circumstances: Glorious Bodies

‘Glorious Bodies’ is a physical, moving and hopeful circus and dance performance about aging, seeing and being seen. This performance on the border between classical and contemporary circus shows six acrobats between 55 and 67 years old, all with a past in classical(er) circus. Just like top athletes, most acrobats stop intensive training after a certain age. ‘Glorious Bodies’ shows in a charming and humorous way what the human body is capable of, regardless of its age.

Piet Van Dycke graduated in 2018 as a choreographer at the FHK in Tilburg. Despite the intense focus on dance during his training, his circus past remains inextricably linked to his makership. Not only his dedication and discipline, but also his choreographic signature have their origins in his earlier training as an acrobat at circus studio Salto in Tienen. His movement language is imbued with fast, acrobatic partner work and the choreographies are always clearly and mathematically constructed. Piet has been working as a dance and circus maker, director, performer, coach and teacher since 2018.
