ISH Dance Collective: Hiphop Circus

In the whirling ‘Hiphop Circus’ choreographer Marco Gerris lets breaking and urban sports come together with circus disciplines. Freerunners, spectacular hip-hop dancers, B-boys, BMX riders, acrobats, jugglers and skaters seek the boundaries of the four elements: water, fire, air and earth. They are as fast as water, seem to float through the air and land with both feet on the ground. They challenge each other, clash and search for a new balance between peace, energy, space and power. During this overwhelming spectacle you will be amazed and ask yourself: is it an act or have I ended up in a dream world?

Choreographer, artistic director and founder Marco Gerris has been successfully finding his way off the beaten track for twenty-five years. Inspired by street culture, he brings hip-hop dance and urban sports to the theatre together with dancers and performers. ISH challenges the boundaries of dance by using elements that you would not immediately label as dance. Freedom of movement arises when you let go of the frameworks: the connecting power of an open mind.
