IKFU Cinema: United We Stand

In this topical documentary, director David van Tijn follows Moscow cellist Maya Fridman. Since the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022, Fridman, who lives in the Netherlands, has been committed to supporting the Ukrainian people. With a large group of Ukrainian and Russian musicians who find each other in solidarity, brotherhood and solidarity, she organizes benefit concerts, which raise a lot of money for emergency aid.

In the documentary you follow the preparations, the rehearsals and the concerts. David van Tijn interviews a number of musicians, and we see the meeting between Fridman, the Latvian cellist Mischa Maisky and the Russian master pianist Evgeny Kissin. This layered documentary shows in a moving way how music and culture can bridge apparent contradictions and unleash a universal power in everyone.
