Open Garden Day Utrecht 2024

Open Tuinendag Utrecht 2024
Nieuwegracht 201

On Saturday, June 29, 2024, the thirteenth Open Garden Day Utrecht will take place. More than fifty private gardens and courtyards in and around Utrecht’s city center, most of which are not normally open to the public, will open their gates. This green event has established a firm place on the calendar and annually attracts between 1,500 and 2,000 visitors.

Hidden behind medieval walls and picturesque gates in the city center lie Utrecht’s urban and courtyard gardens: green oases of tranquility and often surprising garden architecture.

Every garden has a unique character, whether it be large institutional gardens or small private gardens, hidden courtyards and courtyards, gardens with simple architecture or gardens with sculptures and ponds. Open Garden Day Utrecht offers enthusiasts a unique opportunity to enjoy these special gardens.

The Gardens

New this year are the beautifully enclosed city garden of Nieuwegracht 45 and the garden of Springweg 107, which stands out for its special planting. Additionally, some gardens that have only participated a few times before are included, such as Brigittenstraat 9, a corner garden with different levels.

Regular participants, such as the garden of Zuylenspiegel on A.B.C.-straat, the small walled city garden at Nieuwegracht 201, and several gardens on Maliebaan, will also be present again this year. Returning after a hiatus is the Oude Hortus on Lange Nieuwstraat, which was unable to participate for several years due to renovations at the University Museum.

Passe-partout

On Open Garden Day Utrecht, the participating gardens can be visited between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM with a passe-partout. This program booklet includes a description of each location and a handy map with walking routes. A passe-partout costs €15.00 per person and is available from May 1 at the VVV Utrecht, Domplein 9, or for purchase through the VVV webshop: utrecht-winkel.nl.
