Benjamin Herman’s Bughouse

Although he is mostly known as a jazz musician, Benjamin Herman, as a beginning musician, was strongly influenced by the DIY-mentality that had swept over from England with punk in the late ‘70s. With Bughouse, he fulfills a long-cherished wish that brings together his first musical loves: an explosive clash of punk and jazz. After a meeting with drummer Olav van den Berg (Seein’ Red, Lärm, The Marxbros), everything seemed to finally fall into place. With the addition of guitarist Reinier Baas and bassist Peter Peskens (Jungle By Night), the lineup was complete. In May 2024, the new Bughouse album will be released: with new energy and familiar ingredients like jazz, punk, and noise, it promises to be another unforgettable addition to his discography.

Saxophonist and musical maestro Benjamin Herman has been one of the most productive musicians of his generation for over thirty years. Since the ’90s, he has played all over the world and released more than fifty albums with his band New Cool Collective and under his own name as a solo artist.
