Traditional Dutch cafés are slowly closing their doors, newspapers reported a while back. In our city, too, many of these cafés closed their doors in recent decades. Such as The Black Horse Bar in the Drieharingenstraat, where the last beer was sold in the early 1990s. Given the enormous amount of curiosities hanging on the walls here, the café was also known as ‘the cosiest museum in Utrecht’. For those who have a soft spot for the traditional Dutch café: grab a beer at one of them this Christmas holiday, such as Jan Primus, Café Marktzicht, Van Weegen, Café de Stad or Willem Slok. Cheers.
